All American 30 Quart Pressure Cooker Canner Review

All American 30 Quart Pressure Cooker Canner Review

Pressure Cooker

If you have a big family or love canning your own food, then the All American 30 quart is probably on your wish list. It will cook large quantities of food and inexpensive meat cuts to a juicy tenderness in a very short time.

Sounds good? Let's take a closer look

The All American 30 quart can hold 19 pint Jars or 14 quart Jars so it will suit the most avid canner and feed the largest family. However one point to consider is its dimensions. It stands 19'' high and you may find that it may not be suitable if you have an above the stove microwave or something similar. One advantage due to the height of the 30 quart, is that when cooking you do not need to stoop to check the pressure gauge.

Loading and unloading of jars should ideally be done while the canner is still on the stove. This alleviates the need to slide the canner, which could damage the stove surface as well as the canner base. When filled it will weigh a ton and so it is not suitable for glass top or flat ranges.

The all American does not have a gasket. It uses exclusive precision machined faces to provide the seal. This means no more split gaskets when you are halfway through a cook and no frantic calls trying to locate a new one. Don't forget though to apply a film of Vaseline to the surfaces to aid the opening as per the manual.

Other features include an easy to read geared pressure gauge which is mounted on the top of the lid. This can easily be removed for cleaning or replacing by simply unscrewing out and screwing back in.

The pressure regulator weight comes with three settings 5, 10 and 15 pounds per square inch. The lid has a stay-cool Bakelite top handle, while six locking screws hold it securely in place for a perfect seal.

Providing extra safety are two automatic venting features, the safety control valve and an over pressure plug. Double thick edges provide protection on localized points of wear. The All American 30 comes with a canning rack and an instruction manual which includes various recipes.

Spares can be purchased direct from the All American web site.

However, there are many ways of canning, so here's a guide to get your canner.

In particular, they are not confused between the pressureStove and a pressure canner, so that you can use a canner can not get with a stove. What canners are compared, can cause the herd to blow up the glass block and valves, when you try to use for canning.

So if you have your manual gauge steam canner or a pressure regulator to decide automatically. The indicator of steam is the traditional one, where you need a lookout on the pressure to ensure the right level to maintain pressure. On the otherManual work, which do not require the automatic, hard work, where the pressure can be adjusted, and Canner, the pressure alone to catch and release is to regulate the steam, if necessary.

You must also decide whether you want to use as a pressure cooker canner as well. In contrast to those of aluminum, are made of stainless steel pressure canner heavier and more expensive. However, they do not stain or oxidize when in contact with acidic foods, compared to aluminum. ThisOxidation can cause the food, the strange taste. So if you want to use as a cooker canner, pressure canner stainless steel is a better choice.

What is the difference between a pressure cooker and a pressure canner?

What is the difference between a pressure cooker and a pressure canner?

Pressure Cooker

There is a difference between a pressure cooker and a pressure canner? A lot of people, the canning industry approach for the first time this question.

Well, the answer is that they are practically the same as they use their kitchen as a method of pressure cooking. However, the stove, you're going to use for the canning industry to have certain functions.

The main difference is the size

A pressure canner is larger than a pressure cooker. Canners usually have aCapacity of 10 quarts or more, as it must be large enough to accommodate a certain number of glasses on the ground can be accepted. So you can use a bigger pressure cooker for canning.

On the other hand, pressure canners pressure cooking are used, partly because of their size and weight that they are not very practical for everyday cooking to be treated.

The material

Stoves are usually stainless steel, aluminum or combinations of two materials (aluminumin the nucleus of a stainless steel "sandwich"). The stainless steel is not a very good conductor of heat, and aluminum (or copper) is added to compensate for it.

Most of the preserved pressure are all aluminum.

The pressure settings

Pressure cookers usually have a pressure of 15 bar (this is the default). In general, the stoves of today are equipped with an additional ambient pressure in order to lower cooking ingredients and culinary specialties (like fish), but you're probablygoes to 15 psi setting to use. A decrease of 12 or 10 psi increased the cooking time.

Pressure canning industry require the use of different pressures. The pressure is going to be used for canning depends on the size of vessel used, the acid content of the food canning industry and that the amount of its position. So you need to increase this if you are canning low-acid food or if it is your position on the high altitude. Buying a pressure canner with three different settings isideal.

The estate

Herd have usually escapes from rubber or silicone seals (gaskets) in order to create an airtight environment inside the stove and the prevention of air and steam.
