Stress Management Games - Fun Ways to Let Off Steam

Have you ever watched a pressure cooker doing its job? As the contents begin to cook at higher and higher temperatures the pressure begins to build within the pot. If the pot were to continue on without relief it would invariably explode. That is why pressure cookers are designed with a relief valve built into the top. Once the pressure gets to a certain amount the valve will release it with nothing more than a little noise. This keeps the pot from exploding and ruining your kitchen. We are just like that pressure cooker. If we do not relieve the stress building inside we can "explode" in a very destructive manner.

So, how we let go of the stress building inside? One good way is with games that are designed to help us to manage our stress. Stress management games are plentiful in today's society if one knows what to look for in one or where to go to find it. From the Internet to your local department store, there are many games available depending on your interests and your pocketbook.

Let's examine some so you can begin to decide which ones are to your liking. For those of you who enjoy "old school" games there are many good choices. If you have strong vocabulary skills then you would most likely enjoy games such as Crossword puzzles. However, if your observation skills are stronger than your vocabulary then you should consider Seek a Word or Sudoku as an alternative. These games allow you to put your skills to the test. While you are doing so you will find that your focus is shifting away from your stress. One thing to remember is to choose games that are not too difficult for your skill level. If you do then you may inadvertently increase your stress level by making the game too hard.

Another alternative to puzzle games is Solitaire. While many of us know the standard game there are many other versions out there. Purchase a book of Solitaire games and a deck of cards and begin to learn some of the new ways to play. This can be very fun and stress relieving as well.

If you are more computer savvy then you might consider flash games on the Internet. There are many of these available free online from reputable sites. All you need to do is find one such site and click on your game of choice. A few minutes of popping virtual balloons or throwing virtual darts and you may be well on your way to lower stress. If your Internet connection is iffy at best then you should be able to buy some of the same games at your local shopping center at a very reasonable cost. That way you will not have to worry about tipping over the wagonload of stress you might be carrying around while the Internet is down.
